Born in Oxford, England in 1942, Stephen Hawking became known as one of the most recognizable and iconic scientists of our time who gained worldwide fame as a theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author. His notable works include A Brief History of Time, a commercially successful book in which Hawking discusses the origin of the Universe and Hawking Radiation, a theoretical argument he posed about black holes releasing a form of radiation. Aside from his scientific legacy, Hawking was known for his disability. He was diagnosed with a form of motor neuron disease which gradually paralyzed him over time. Hawking maintained a public image spreading science to a wider audience. He died in March of 2018.
