Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5 1901 and was an entrepreneur, animator, voice actor, and film producer. He is considered a pioneer of the American animation industry and introduced various developments to the production of cartoons. As a film producer, Disney has the most Academy Awards earned by an individual winning 22 Oscars from 59 nominations. He was given 2 Golden Globe Special Achievement Awards and several of his films are included in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Disney died on December 15, 1966. Disney today remain an important icon within the history of animation, and cultural history of the United States.
