Description
Description

The Black and Tan Coonhound is a hunting dog breed that was developed in the United States; the breed was created to be a scent hound that relies on its sense of smell to hunt raccoons, but they can also hunt deer, bears, wolves, cougars, and other big game. As their temperament is mellow, amiable, and unobtrusive indoors, they can make a suitable pet. Physically the breed is characterized by black and tan markings that are similar to those of the Doberman and Rottweiler, long, wide, and thin ears that are set low and far back on the head, and hazel to brown eyes.
