Description
Description

Bottlebrush tree (Callistemon) is an evergreen flowering tree distinguished by its narrow aromatic foliage, twisting branches, and vivid cylindrical flower spikes that resemble the shape of a bottle-cleaning brush. The leaves are slender and lance-shaped, densely arranged along flexible stems that create a soft but highly textured canopy. Flower clusters emerge prominently at the branch tips, composed of long colorful stamens that attract birds and pollinating insects.

Native to Australia, Callistemon species naturally inhabit riverbanks, open forests, and seasonally wet landscapes where periodic drought and flooding occur. The genus is biologically notable for its resilience to heat and poor soils, as well as its adaptation to fire-prone ecosystems. Mature specimens often develop sculptural trunks with layered branching patterns. Callistemon emphasizes vivid flowering displays, fine-textured evergreen foliage, and highly recognizable brush-like blooms, making it one of the most iconic flowering tree groups associated with Australian landscapes.
