The Cornish Rex cat, known for its wavy hair and very outgoing behavior, was named for its coat resemblance to an Astrex rabbit. The Cornish Rex cat is a loving cat, whose desire for play and attention seems endless. Soft and suedey, the Cornish Rex also makes a great cuddle buddy in the winter. The first Cornish Rex was discovered in 1950 after two cats bred and produced a litter with one curly coated cat in the bunch. After realizing this kitten to be a new breed and under advice by a British geneticist he was back bred with his mother to produce more Cornish Rex kittens.
Cornish Rex Cats have an overall height of 8”-12” (20-30 cm), body length of 12”-17” (30-43 cm), and weight between 5-10 lb (2.3-4.5 kg). Cornish Rex Cats have a typical lifespan between 11-14 years.
