Some of his most famous songs include Purple Rain, Kiss and 1999. He also wrote songs performed by other artists, including Manic Monday performed by The Bangles and Nothing Compares 2 u, performed by The Family. He is one of the bestselling artists of all time and sold over 130 million records worldwide. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He sadly died in 2016.
