Description
Description

Turkish Angoras, known for their silky, fine, all white coats and blue or amber eyes, are beautiful cats with active personalities. Angoras love to be involved in whatever their humans are doing, but do not enjoy being held. Largely independent and determined, Angoras are most happy doing what they want, when they want. The Turkish Angora breed is an ancient breed, originating from the Asian part of Turkey.

Beloved by the Islamic prophet, Mohammed, the Turkish Angora has always been a popular cat in Turkey before becoming a worldwide sensation. However, the Cat Fancy governing board once declared all longhaired cats to simply be called “longhairs,” which almost resulted in the destruction of the purebred line of Turkish Angoras. Were it not for the determination of the Turkish Zoo to maintain this breed of cat, the purebred Turkish Angora bloodline may have been lost forever.
