Description
Description

The Common Sheath-Tailed Bat (Taphozous georgianus) is a bat that lives in caves, abandoned mining operations, and fissures in rock faces in northern Australia. They have brown or gray-brown fur that is darker on the back and paler on the front. The snout narrows toward the tip, and the lips and bald head are sepia colored. As with most bats, the Common Sheath-Tailed Bat hunts at night; they follow straight paths that systematically survey a hunting ground by criss-crossing in a grid pattern. Their diet is predominantly beetles, but they will also eat other types of insects.
