Crested Gecko (Correlophus ciliatus)

Set of scaled top and elevation drawings of the Crested Gecko
Description
Description

Also known as the eyelash gecko, the crested gecko (Correlophus ciliatus) is distinguished by its lack of eyelids. It uses its tongue to keep its eyes clear and moist. It also has hair-like protrusions that fan out above its eyes which resembles that of eyelashes (hence the secondary name). Considered a larger species of gecko, the crested gecko features a wedge-shaped head, clawed toes to aid with climbing, and a detachable tail which will not grow back. As such, most found in the wild appear without a tail. The crested gecko is also an omnivore, having a diet that consists of fruit, nectar, and insects.
