Description
Description

The Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) is an owl found in the grasslands, rangelands, agricultural areas, or any other open dry area with low vegetation across North and South America. Their name references their nesting and roosting habitat, burrows. They have adapted to living in grasslands by developing longer legs that allow them to sprint and fly white hunting. Physically, the Burrowing Owl has bright eyes, a dark yellow or gray beak, and a flattened facial disc. They have prominent white eyebrows and a white ”chin” patch; adults have a brown head and wings, and the chest and abdomen are white.
