Description
Description

California sea lions are representatives of the Otaridae family possessing a dog-like face, high intellect, and playfulness. The male California sea lion is marked by a thicker neck and protruding sagittal crest. Similarly, these animals have large flippers for walking on land and external ear flaps. California sea lions occupy western North America coastline and often feed in the ocean and only come on land to molt or reproduce. Since they are intelligent, they can be trained for specialized operations or to play tricks to entertain the public in circuses. Additionally, the animals are truly social, often living in groups at haul-out spots or floating together.
