Description
Description

The Coelophysis is a coelophysid theropod dinosaur that lived during the latter part of the Triassic Period. Their remains were found is what is now the southwestern United States, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. It is one of the earliest known dinosaur genera. It was a bipedal carnivore that was small and slenderly-built; this basic theropod body shape aided it the Coelophysis’ abilities as a fast and agile runner. Further, the Coelophysis had narrow hips, forelimbs for grasping prey, narrow feet, and a narrow head with large, forward-facing eyes and excellent depth perception.
