Description

The Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) is a bird of prey that lives in the woodlands and open grounds of Europe and across the Palearctic. As a medium-sized raptor they have a compact overall appearance. They have a distinct, round head, a slender bill, long wings, a short tail, and a bare tarsi. Their plumage is highly variable, and in Europe they are typically dark brown, but can become paler and warmer brown with worn plumage. As opportunistic predators they have a wide variety of prey, but they mostly eat small mammals like rodents and voles.
