It is also called the American chameleon because it can appear bright green, brown, or a combination depending on its stress or activity level and/or other environmental factors. Technically speaking however, it is not considered to be a true chameleon, which happens to have a broader range of color changes. The green anole is medium in size and has a thin body, long head, and foot pads for climbing.
