The Samsung Galaxy S8, also known by its industry insider name “Project Dream” is the eighth iteration of the Galaxy S Series and follows the Galaxy S7. The Samsung Galaxy S8 was unveiled on March 29th, 2017. The Samsung Galaxy S8 features facial recognition and iris scanning, a new suite of personal assistant software, Bixby, and is offered in five colors. Moving away from previous standards for Samsung smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a fingerprint scanner centered under the back camera, no physical navigation buttons, and a switch from a MicroUSB to a USB-C charger.
