Kartell
Founded by Giulio Castelli in 1949 and continuing on over 70 years of business, Kartell is an Italian company that specializes in the production of plastic contemporary furniture. The company was later acquired by Castelli’s son-in-law Claudio Luti, who steered the brand in a new, fresh direction through the extensive research of new technologies, testing of various materials, and partnerships with recognized architects. Through this exploration, Kartell became the first company to use polycarbonate as a furniture-producing material resulting in a future of transparent, minimalist designs (the Louis Ghost chair as a best selling example).
