Regan MacNeil is the main character of The Exorcist novel, its film adaptation, television series, and radio adaptation. Regan is a shy little girl stuck in the middle of her parent’s divorce. When she starts to act aggressively, which is out of character for her, her mother, Chris, seeks medical advice, eventually being advised to seek a priest because they think Regan has been possessed. It turns out, Regan has been possessed by a demonic spirit, Pazuzu, and an exorcism is performed by two priests. Once relived of her demon, Regan has no recollection of the past events or her actions and returns to normal.
