Formlabs Form 2 3D Printer

Dimensioned drawings of the Formlabs Form 2 with height, width, and depth labeled in elevation

The Formlabs Form 2 is an affordable and professional 3D printer that set the standard for 3D printing and a precedent for the Form 3 printer; it is a desktop stereolithography (SLA) printer. The Form 2 has a more sustainable and smaller footprint than industrial sterolithography printers through the use of an inverted print process. This allows for improved surface quality, light-touch support structures, and better print success.

The Formlabs Form 2 has a physical outer height of 20.5” (52 cm), width of 13.6” (34.5 cm), and depth of 13” (33 cm). The overall build volume is 6.9” (17.5 cm) tall, 5.7” (14.5 cm) wide, 5.7” (14.5 cm) deep, and has a layer resolution between 25-300 microns.

A 3D Printer is a square or rectangular machine which is able to create 3D objects out a variety of materials. An object is first modeled in a 3D program, and then sent to the 3D printer. The printer then splices the 3D object into layers, and is able to print from the bottom of the base to the top.
