Ronald Reagan served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his move into politics, he served in the US military and also had a film career, later becoming the President of the Screen Actors Guild. He became President in 1981. He is considered, alongside Britain’s Margaret Thatcher, as a key influencer of modern Conservatism, his policies paving the way for the economic system of today. His legacy is often widely debated. Ronald Regan was married to Nancy Reagan, and they had a famously close and loving relationship. Ronald Reagan died from complications related to Alzheimer’s in 2004.
