Gellert Grindelwald is a famous wizard known for his mastery of the Dark Arts. He began a romantic relationship with Albus Dumbledore as a young wizard and the two were joined in their vision of creating a new magical world together. However, the relationship fell foul and the two parted ways after a duel which ended up killing Dumbledore’s sister Ariana.

In 1945, Grindelwald had amassed a great following and was intent of taking over the wizarding world and establishing a new order. However, he was confronted and defeated by Dumbledore and imprisoned in his own castle. He was killed by Lord Voldemort decades later when he refused to give him the location of the Elder Wand.
