Darth Sidious, also known as Emperor Palpatine or the Emperor, is a fictional Sith Master and Emperor of the Galaxy in the Star Wars movies and their extended franchise. The mentor and master of Darth Vader, Darth Sidious destroys the Jedi order and brings evil to the galaxy through both sides of his double life. Once a part of Queen Amidala’s inner circle, Darth Sidious traded his original mentee Darth Maul for Darth Vader as part of his rise to the top, while orchestrating the overthrow of the government from the inside and eventually naming the Jedi enemies of the state.
