Her character Brienne was a firm fan favorite and allowed Gwendoline to draw on her own experiences of feeling out of place. She starred in the show for seven seasons, winning an Emmy nomination for her performance. She has also appeared in the Hunger Games franchise and in the new Star Wars trilogy, as Captain Phasma. She is in a relationship with fashion designer Giles Deacon.
