French Bulldog

Seated and standing side elevation drawings of the French Bulldog dog breed

French Bulldogs are a small breed of dog native to France that were the result of crossbreeding between Toy Bulldogs imported from England and Parisian ratters during the 1800s. These dogs are known for their gentle and quiet demeanor that is matched by a wide, joyful smile and bulging, bug-like eyes—adorable features that possibly compensate for their notoriously loud snoring. French Bulldogs have short coats that come in a variety of color variations and are famous for their face wrinkles, large, bat-like ears, and bulbous, dome-shaped heads. As a result of these unique features, French Bulldogs typically require delivery via cesarean section and cannot swim.

Dogs are domesticated mammals of the Carnivora order. Descendants of wolves, dogs are the first animals to have been domesticated by humans. Dogs are bred for particular physical and emotional characteristics and are often referred to as ‘man’s best friend’ referring to their high degree of loyalty.
