One Legged Headstand (Eka Pada Sirsasana)

Set of drawings of women performing the One Legged Headstand

One Legged Headstand is an advanced inversion that stretches the hamstrings, glutes, hips, and requires a good amount of stretch to maintain the hold. Some preparatory postures to One Legged Headstand include postures such as Thread the Needle and hip openers. Yogi’s with hip issues, neck or back problems use an abundance of caution and always back off if any pain is felt.

Collection of outlined drawings of people doing the One Legged Headstand

To do One Legged Headstand Pose, set up the same way as a shoulder stand, keep one leg on the mat while raising the other. Be mindful to keep the neck, shoulders and hips in alignment.
