Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana)

Multiple yoga poses of men performing the Half Moon Pose

Half Moon Pose is a beginner posture that works like a standing inversion. Half Moon Pose helps tone the hips and legs while bringing strength to the back. Half Moon Pose is known to help with anxiety, back aches, sciatica, fatigue and some stomach issues. Some preparatory postures to Half Moon Pose consist of Bound Angle, Extended Triangle, and Hero Pose.

Assorted silhouettes of men and women in the Half Moon Pose

To do Half Moon Pose, begin in Extended Triangle Pose on the right side. On an inhale, lift onto the right foot keeping the left foot straight back with the foot flexed using the right fingertips to balance and the left arm up palm facing in with the hips stacked. Try using a block for balance!
