Sphinx Pose (Salamba Bhujangasana)

Multiple yoga poses of men performing the Sphinx Pose

Sphinx Pose is a beginner backbend that stretches out the chest, shoulders, and abs while strengthening the back and spine. Sphinx Pose is known to help relieve stress and can be used as an active or passive posture, meaning the body can be flexed or relaxed while in Sphinx Pose.

To do Sphinx Pose, you can begin in many ways. The basics of this posture are to have the legs and stomach on the floors with the forearms on the ground, push through the arms, open the shoulders and give the back a slight bend looking forward.
