Compass Pose, also known as Sundial Pose, is an advanced posture with many benefits such as opening the hips and chest. There are a few preparatory positions to Compass Pose that can help to build the muscles and flexibility needed for the full expression. Warming up the right parts of the body is very important when doing Compass Pose. Mastering postures such as Bound Standing Forward Fold, Lizard Pose, and Monkey Pose will help prepare Yogi’s for Compass Pose.

There is a lot to do for Compass Pose, the final expression is to be sitting on the mat with one leg out and the other straight and tucked behind the shoulder. This is an advanced posture, Yogi’s try using a strap for assistance.
