Knee Chest Chin Pose (Ashtanga Namaskara)

Multiple yoga poses of men performing the Knee Chest Chin Pose

Knee Chest Chin Pose is a beginner posture that is sometimes used in place of Four-Limbed Staff Pose in sun-salutations for new Yogi’s. Knee Chest Chin Pose is also a good warm-up for backbends and can help to strengthen the muscles around the spine while also building strength in the arms in order to work up to Four-Limbed Staff Pose.

Drawings of people performing the Knee Chest Chin Pose represented in outline silhouettes

To do Knee Chest Chin Pose, begin in Plank Pose and lower the chest and chin to the mat while keeping the hips up, hands just under the shoulders. Follow Knee Chest Chin Pose up with Cobra Pose.
